Students Enjoy Activities Off Campus

The 7th and 8th grade students were able to enjoy a field trip at the closure of the 2nd quarter.  The day started with students, along with Ms Copre and Mr. Parsons walking to the California Blue Line Station for their journey downtown.  The boys split up from the girls and each took a separate car downtown to our destination, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.  Many students had never been on the El prior to our trip.

Upon arrival, we were scanned through security, which gave the students an idea of how we protect our nation’s financial system.  The students were treated to a wonderful video that shows our economy at work that showcased the unique talents of Chicago’s workers.  It also was useful to understand basic banking principles.

They then were able to tour the money museum.  The museum had numerous displays, interactive features and historical currency.  Students were allowed to take shredded bills after the tour was complete.  The highlights were the photos with $1,000,000 and also a short lunch downtown.  The students thoroughly enjoyed being out of the classroom, asking financial questions and touring our wonderful city.
