Yearbook
The Peirce 2012-2013 Yearbook is under construction! Our theme this year is NEON. So far, the book is coming along nicely. Many pages are finished and the classroom and clubs pages are starting to take shape. The books can be ordered in May and picked up at the beginning of June. Please contact me with questions or if you have any excellent pictures to add.
History Fair--Due Monday February 11th
History Fair
You received a packet today that is filled with graphic organizers, outlines, and other tools to help with your project. For the weekend, you need to continue to work on your project and complete the Analyzing A Document sheet on 1 source that you used.
You also need to completely fill out the green sheet that goes over your topic choice and gives you information on how to write about it being a TURNING POINT.
The purple sheet is for you to read with your parents or guardians so you can work together and keep yourself organized.
There is a section on a Thesis statement in the new packet that you can work on as well.

I really hope that you can work hard this quarter and make these projects amazing. I sense the excitement learning about Chicago and I appreciate the work you put in. Please, please come ask questions or ask for help after school on this project if you need it. Many of these topics I have studied myself and would love to share information that I have. Do not forget to use the public library as a tool to help you!!

This Week--January 28-31
As you already know, our field trip to the Dunes was cancelled. We are working to reschedule the trip and engage in the learning process that this activity will offer.
For the remainder of this week, specifically Tuesday and Wednesday we will work on a couple of activities. Tomorrow is a B Day, but we will work on doing research for the History Fair. On Wednesday, we will do a lab continuing our quest to find out more about the importance of rocks and minerals.
Please try to get your History Fair topics in tomorrow and also turn in your Current Events #5, which is based on New Technology.
Please post comments at the bottom and I will respond as soon as I can.

This Week
6th Grade students have only two assignments for the week. The first is to come up with a topic for the Chicago History Fair by Friday. The second, and this only applies if you are in S.T.E.M. class, is to bring materials for the Mouse Trap Cars for class on Tuesday and Wednesday. The mousetraps are purchased and I have plenty of other supplies to use in class. Please let me know if you need me to get you supplies so I can purchase them tomorrow. Enjoy the day off and try to remember why we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
